Glucosamine sulfate reduces osteoarthritis progression in postmenopausal women.

The results of a two recent, three year, randomized, placebo-controlled, prospective, indepent studies, were published in the journal, Menopause. The study authors concluded, "This analysis, from a large cohort of postemenopausal women, demonstrated for the first time that a pharmacological intervention for OA (osteoarthritis) has a disease-modifying effect in this particular population, the most frequently affected by knee OA.
